About Manchester City FC

Manchester City is a recent top-performer in the English Premier League. Their unprecedented sweep made Manchester City tickets in high demand.

History of Manchester City

Formed in 1880, Manchester City was known by a few different names. The team was known as St. Mark’s then Gorton FC and Ardwick AFC until the official name was settled in 1894.

These early years saw a lot of financial struggles and changes to different playing fields. However, through all the club’s restructuring, it inspired an enthusiastic fan base that followed them anywhere they would go.

In 1899, the club moved up to the First Division and won their first trophy in 1904. Unfortunately, 17 of their players were suspended due to allegations of financial misconduct. This resulted in their star player, Billy Meredith, moving to Manchester United and bringing them two league titles.

Throughout all the initial struggles, City fans never lost faith. In 1934, Manchester City won their second FA Cup and continually filled the stands with their loyal fans. During this time, Manchester City set an unbreakable record that stands to this day. In a match against Stoke City, 84,569 fans came to watch the game.

In the late 2000s, the club was taken over by Abu Dhabi, a billionaire from the United Emirates who invested considerable money in top-level players. In total, Abu spent more than £500 on new players, such as Manuel Pellegrini.

This strategic move paid off. In 2017-2018, Manchester City became the first-ever in the Premier League to get 100 points in a single season with an 18 game consecutive winning streak.

Manchester City’s most impressive achievement came in 2019. Having beaten Watford to win the FA Cup, they secured the domestic treble with the Premier League title and the League Cup. Manchester City is the first to win them all three major titles in a single season.

Manchester City Stadium

Between 1880 and 1887, Manchester City played between five different stadiums until they finally settled on Hyde Road Football Stadium. They played at this stadium for 36 years until it burnt down in 1920.

The fire caused Manchester City to move to Maine Road, nicknamed “Wembley of the North,” until 1995. Unfortunately, new restrictions caused seating to be limited to 32,000 which was a significant reduction from the 84,000 capacity it once had.

In 2003, they moved to the City of Manchester Stadium, known as the Etihad Stadium since 2011 when Adu Dhabi bought the club. To this day, the stadium can hold up to 55,097 fans with a plan to expand so that 61,000 fans can enjoy more games.

Are you ready to watch the unbeatable football force at the Etihad Stadium? Secure your Manchester City tickets and don’t miss out on history in the making!
