Festhalle Schottenhamel - 150 years of Oktoberfest history

It was 1867, when Michael Schottenhamel was represented for the first time with his beer stall at the Oktoberfest. Since then, the name of the Munich family has been closely linked to Oktoberfest.

In the course of the successful development of the family business, the Schottenhamels often have decisively shaped the history of the Oktoberfest: for example, in 1896, when Michael I. founded the era of beer tent architecture with his magnificent festival hall, designed by the then Munich star architect Gabriel von Seidl. Or in 1931, when son Michael II even rescued the Oktoberfest. And how was that really with the tapping story about the famous Mayor of Munich Thomas Wimmer? Not to mention the year 1984. Suddenly, the whole world was there live when the legendary words "O'zapft is!" Fell.

These are just some of the many historical events that this family chronicle offers you. For more than three years, author Amadeus Danesitz has been exploring the most diverse archives, private collections and libraries, always in search of unknown stories and documents. In addition, there were countless hours of personal conversations with the individual family members as well as people who are also closely associated with the Schottenhamel.

This book contains not only a variety of previously unpublished images, documents and facts, but is also a piece of Munich's city history.
