Wagner's Lohengrin opens the Bayreuth Festival's 2027 season in a brand-new production, performed on 25 & 30 July and 3, 6, 10, 14, 20 & 24 August 2027. Staged by Italian director Ilaria Lanzino in her festival debut and conducted by rising Finnish talent Tarmo Peltokoski, the cast brings together Michael Spyres in the title role, Elsa Dreisig as Elsa of Brabant in her hotly anticipated Bayreuth debut, Georg Zeppenfeld as King Henry, Jordan Shanahan as Friedrich von Telramund, and Judit Kutasi as Ortrud — staged, as ever, in the legendary Bayreuth Festspielhaus on the Green Hill.
