Wagner's Parsifal returns to the Bayreuth Festival in 2027 in a striking new production, performed on 26 & 31 July and 4, 8, 12, 15, 19 & 22 August 2027. Conducting his first-ever Parsifal at Bayreuth, Christian Thielemann leads a production staged by Ersan Mondtag in his festival debut, with visual designs by artists Neo Rauch and Rosa Loy. Piotr Beczała and Christopher Sokolowski share the title role across performances, alongside Mika Kares as Gurnemanz, Michael Volle as Amfortas, and Michèle Losier as Kundry — staged, as ever, in the legendary Bayreuth Festspielhaus on the Green Hill. Tickets to Bayreuth are among the most difficult in the world of opera to obtain, with public waiting lists historically running to several years.
